چکیده
In order to study the interaction of cysteine containing peptide chains with Hg(II) the nuclear quadrupole interaction (NQI) of 1 9 9 m Hg in the Hg complex of the oligopeptide Alanine-AlanineCysteine-Alanine-Alanine (AACAA) was determined by time differential perturbed angular correlation. Different 1 9 9 m H g N Q I ' s for free and resin-bound A A C A A were obtained. Furthermore, the 1 9 9 m H g N Q I ' s are influenced by the H g : A A C A A stoichiometry.

Metal-binding and detoxification effect of synthetic oligopeptides containing three cysteinyl residues.
Metallothionein is a naturally occurring metal-binding protein with high cysteine content. Oligopeptides containing three cysteinyl residues and having amino acid sequences analogous to portions of this protein were synthesized by the solid-phase method. Strong affinity of the synthetic peptides to Cd2+ and Zn2+ was observed, and the dissociation constants of the peptide-metal complexes were 2-...

The nuclear quadrupole interaction of 1 9 9 m Hg in Hg-cysteine and Hg-tert-butyl mercaptide was determined at room temperature by perturbed angular correlations. The dramatic difference in the interaction strength between both compounds is a result of the two-fold and four-fold sulfur coordination, respectively. Moreover, we compared the preparation of Hg-cysteine using a Hg: cysteine ratio of...
متن کاملPhage display-mediated discovery of novel tyrosinase-targeting tetrapeptide inhibitors reveals the significance of N-terminal preference of cysteine residues and their functional sulfur atom.
Tyrosinase, a key copper-containing enzyme involved in melanin biosynthesis, is closely associated with hyperpigmentation disorders, cancer, and neurodegenerative diseases, and as such, it is an essential target in medicine and cosmetics. Known tyrosinase inhibitors possess adverse side effects, and there are no safety regulations; therefore, it is necessary to develop new inhibitors with fewer...

In the present work, a new branch of biotechnological advantage of the latex of an endemic perennial plant, Euphorbia microsciadia has been introduced. A novel cysteine protease, designated as microsciadin, was purified from the latex of Euphorbia microsciadia by a combination of sequential usage of SP-Sepharose Fast Flow column in two different pHs and a final gel filtration ...
